History

The Memorial House of Jan Hála is a permanent exposition of P.M. Bohúň´s Gallery in Liptovský Mikuláš. It was open in 1976 in the house where the artist had lived and worked. Besides the photo documentary of his life there are more than 60 of his paintings, drawings and illustrations exhibited, mostly with themes of Važec, under Tatras folklore and traditions. Part of the exposition is also a važecká wooden cabin with original furniture, where Hála lived after his coming to Važec. In the basement of the house of Jan Hála the Common Museum is situated, established by the village council in Važec.
